Time to move on!

You know it’s time to start looking for a new job when just the thought of going to work makes you angry. There have been so many changes lately where I work and I can’t say they’ve all been good.  I really don’t mind working  2-11 but I am really tired of having to work every weekend. Mr Halloween and the boys are home weekends and the rest of my family does all their get togethers then too and guess who has to miss them all because she has to work. For the longest time my days off were Tuesday and Wednesday and I was able to plan things for those days but recently the’ve began messing with my schedule and I never know what days I will have off, but rest asssured it will not be Saturday or Sunday. Mr Knowledge gets so disappointed because I have to miss his football games due to work. But thats the trouble with retail. You have to live your life around them because they must come first. Well I beieve it’s time for my life to come first, I’ve lived their life for 9 yrs now it’s time to live mine.

Now that I’ve bored you with my ranting it’s time to move on to some knitterly news(spell checker is gonna hate that one). I’ve been knitting a beanie for my brother for christmas and I finished it this morning. 1x1 ribbed beanieI used one skein of Cleckheaton Country 8ply Naturals in a Navy tweed. It’s a machine washable wool/acrylic blend, which is good because I know my brother is not going to take the time to hand wash  anything. would you if you were a 30 yrd old unmarried guy who is always on the go.

Still waiting on from one of my two test knitters for my fingerless mitts. Thanks to Kattie and Ally B for volunteering to knit them for me. I appreciate their help so I can make a better pattern to share with you. Here’s Ally’s mittsAlly's rippled Mitts She did a great job and they turned out nicely.

I’ve already got another pattern idea. I have to work things out first then I’ll try knitting it before I give you a sneak peak at it.

Guess what:) my good friend Donnely has loaned me a computer and I can share my pictures again. YEAH- I am excited. I ‘ve been able to get my projects uploaded to Ravelry and hope to add many more. I still can’t add my printer so I am not sure if there is something wrong with the software or it’s just not compatible with these older computers because it worked fine with my old pc. But anyway be warned you guys will get sick of seeing all my photos now that I’m able to add them again. HEE HEE.

Ok now I’m off I have a sock to knit but I thought I’d leave ya with the view from my back door.backyard view Yeah I know it’s not very exciting but it’s the only veiw I have.

Happy knitting and Have nice day.

Party Time!

Today I had my annual Harvest Party. It went well despite the fact that it rained all day. I had originally planned to have it under a canopy in my side yard but had to change locations and the front porch became party central. There were six of us. Two of the ladies I invited were not able to come due to last minute happenings. We ate lots of good food, had a few laughs and made mini pumpkins.mini pumpkin

Donnely did a dying demonstration and we hand painted wool roving using kool-aid. I dyed a skein of thick-n- thin handspun Merino that I’ve had for about a year now. It’s a red, orange mix, nice fall colors.fall merino Still not sure what I want to knit up with it yet.

All in all we had a great time even if Mother Nature decided to rain on my parade so to speak. I’m already looking forward to next years party.

I just can’t do it.

I tried really I did . I had every intention of staying away but I realize just can’t do it. I know that I would miss everyone just way too much. Seems bloggin is in my blood.I don’t know why I even bothered with a silly post like my last one. I do have things to tell you even if I can’t show you. I guess it was just the fact that I had so much trouble with this dinosaur of a PC that was making blogging no fun. I figured out a few of the settings and changed them and it is working so much better. Still can’t take pics though. I’m really not sure I can handle this til after christmas. I may just have to try my son’s Nickelodeon camera if nothing else. Hey it may be a little kiddie camera but if it works who am I to complain. I’ll try it tomorrow maybe.

I started my weight loss program again. Last time I did it I lost 50lbs and I looked good. I’ve gained back 30 of it and I really don’t like how it makes me feel. I realize it will be a long hard journey but it is one I am willing to take to make me feel and look better. I’ll keep you posted on my progress.

Also I dyed my hair. I went from a blonde to a red head. Let me tell ya the story behind my dying disaster.

I  bought reddish blonde coloring and was excited to come home and give it a go. well that’s exactly what I did and let me tell you I was not a happy girl. It turned Tomato red. There was no way in H-E- double hockey sticks I was going to go around looking like a tomato.I did not take pics thank goodnes. though you might have had a good laugh if I had. It might have looked fine on someone else but it just was not me. I gave it one day and then went back and got a dark Auburn to cover over it. It is now more burgundy . I am getting used to it. It is such a big change from Blonde and it takes people by suprise when they see me but everyone seems to like it though because I have received many compliments.

In knitting news I have finished my fingerless gloves.

I have to type up the pattern and then find a test knitter before I will post it here. I want to make sure that it is easily understandable to all level of knitters.

Well I have pumpkin bread in the oven I must go check. Yea I know not good for someone who just started a diet but I promise it is not for me. Dh is taking it to work with him tomorrw. So I am forced to behave since it wont be here in the morn when I get up. But it sure smells yummy right now.

Night all and  Happy knitting.

Good Tuesday Morning

to you all. Hope you enjoyed your long holiday weekend. I worked so there were no holiday happenings in my house.

Mr Knowlegde(who is in third grade) played his second football game of the season and his team won 29-0. He was really pumped up after the game. He plays second string defense but still gets to go out on a few plays. This game they stuck him on offense a time or two and the poor boy had no clue what he was doing. Guess they need to work more with him and show him what to do.

Mr Fisherman went to work at the Haunted House this weekend. They are preparing for the haunt season. He helped build a few displays and promptly received a nice sunburn as his payment. I told him to wear his shirt but when all you like to wear are black t-shirt it doesn’t do much good anyway. Now he is paying the price.

I must be a lucky mom to have a son who cooks for me. Mr Teenager cooked not once but twice this weekend. On Sunday he fixed pancakes for breakfast- his first time making them and they were actually pretty good, everyone went back for seconds and thirds.
Then yesterday he fixed homemade vegetable soup for lunch. I think we may have a future chef in our house. He is the one who fixes supper at my house when I have to work in the evenings. Mr Fisherman does not cook. Not many 15 yr old boys enjoy cooking.

I managed to do a little bit of shopping for a few swaps and actually have two packages ready to go out in the mail but wont be able to get to the P.O. til Thursday.
Still haven’t found a sock pattern I like for My brothers girlfriend so I’ve decided to put it aside for now and concentrate on a few things I need to make for a couple swaps. I think I’m just trying to hard and the sock knitting will happen when the timing is right.
Thanks for stopping by and letting me share my weekend with you. Happy Knitting and have a happy Tuesday.

It’s Offical

Sorry I’m going to do a little wineing-oops I mean whining.
My blogging has become boring and rather pointless without picuters. I am in several swaps that require blog upate at least 4 times a month. But if I can’t add pics I don’t see the point of updating at this time. No one wants to comment on a pictureless blog let alone visit one.
Ok I’m done whinning- now you can get back to your regularly scheduled blogging and knitting.

Bummed

It seems I will not be getting my computer back because it is just to far gone to be fixed. This really stinks because it means I am stuck with this back-up. It loads at a snails pace, I can use my camera with it and I can’t hook the printer and scanner to it because it just doesn’t haven’t enough memory for it. I guess I am destined to be without a good computer for now. I have so many pictures I wanted to share. I managed to finish my Thuja socks. But I just can’t show ya.

In other news I went today with my friends Donnely and Kathie to help them set up their booths for Hookahville

Everything went without a hitch in sgetting this organized. we left Donnely

camper thereand rode home in Kathie’s jeep. That’s where things went

wrong. We ran out of gas and had to call Katie’s Dh to come rescue us.Kathie swore up and down it was just yesterday that she put gas in it.She appologiezed several times for it happening. It was no big deal. I mean it has happened to all of us at one time, I’m sure. Anyway what was funny was the fact that she kept saying I know it was yesterday I put gas in it.

The Conversation went like this.

Kathie: I know it was only yesterday I put gas in. I am sorry guys.

Donnely, Tomi and Jen: Don’t be sorry it’s no big deal.

Kathie: I’ll check the mileage. I wrote it down after I put gas in. Wow I drove 119 miles- since yesterday? That can’t be right I only drove around town.

Donnely- You have to be out of gas. I hope that is all that is wrong.

Jen- yea if it’s out of gas that’s an easy fix.

Kathie- I’m sure it was yesterday. I’ll check my receipt.(ruffling of paper while she finds it). Yea guys see it says the 26th.

Donnely, Tomi and Jen: Laughing to the point of rolling on the floor.

Jen: Kathie that was 3 days ago.

Ya gotta love her. She is so scatterbrained she loses track of time. But I wouldn’t trade her for anything in the world. She keeps our friendship very interesting.  He hubby rescued us laughing at her the whole time.

Morning Thunder*

No it’s not storming. It’s what I’m drinking. Sounds like an alcoholic beverage doesn’t, well it my new tea. I bought it when I went to Amish country. It’s a caffinated tea. For those who want to kick start their morning but don’t like coffee. Love it. It’s my new way to start the mornings.

Mr Knowledge played his first offical football game this weekend and his team won.19-7. He is second string defense so he doesn’t get to play as much but ya know I’m ok with that cause I wasn’t all that thrilled with him playing to begin with. But it was his decision to play. And I am one who lets my children make choices on their own.

My computer should come home today. I am excited because I am tired of not being able to post pics. I have quite a few to show you once my baby comes home.It only cost me $35 to get it fixed so I think that is pretty darn good.

I am going to be spending my day in the kitchen. I have pumpkin to cook and strain so I can make some Harvest Bread. I will share the recipe later. I am using my white pumpkin. Mr Teenageer was excited when he saw it being cut up. He loves the seeds after they are roasted of course.

Well I am off to the kitchen. Take Care Happy Knitting and have a nice day.

*By Celestial Seasonings. This tea is made with a spirited and earthy combination of moutain-grown black tea and yerba maté, a South American herb and is sure to give you the lift you need to get in gear — without the coffee jitters. It has a buffalo on the box which is actually why I had to buy it. I collect any thing with buffalo. The fact that is was tea was just a bonus.

Sad news.

Sorry I haven’t been around the last few days. I just didn’t have the heart to blog. It is with a very heavy heart that I write this. My cat Scooter passed away on Tuesday morning. This was and still is very hard to deal with. She was a member of my family for 11 years. She was with us longer then number 2 son who is only 8.

It is so hard to walk out my front door because the porch was her domain. When we would go out in the evenings to sit on the porch swing she was there ready for her nightly petting. She was always right there ready to greet you when you got home from work ,she rolled back and forth on the walk until you reached down to pet her. She loudly let you know when her food bowl was empty and if you didn’t fill it right away she sat and stared at you until you couldn’t stand it any longer.

She was a beloved pet and will be greatly missed for a long time to come. I will post a picture of her later as I am at a friends right now and I still don’t have my computer back. Hopefully by Monday.

Take Care everyone.

I passed!

Those of you who regularly read my blog may know that I work in a retail store. Wont say what one. But anyway I am a sales associate on the sales floor.

My assistant manger has been after me for the last two weeks to put Department maganger as one of my career goals so that when a position comes up I can be considered for it. For this you have to take an assesment test on the computer. Well I did it about a year ago and did not pass. So I was a little apprehensive about doing it again. I kept putting it off and was worried that I would not pass it again this time.I kept telling myself I didn’t want that responsiblity. Well tonight I finally worked up the courage to take the test. And guess what. I PASSED. I couldn’t believe it when those words popped up on the screen. I was worried for nothing.  I think I just wasn’t ready for it the last time I tried but now I think the time wasright or I would not have passed. I didn’t realize how much I wanted it until after the test was done. So if I ever get Departmanet manager that means I would work 7-4 instead of 2-11 and I would have weekend off instead of working every weeknd. I know everyone here at home would like that. So I’m keeping my fingers crossed that something comes up soon.
I rushed home to tell Mr Fisherman but he is alseep, now he must wait until tomoorw to hear my news. So I am happy to share it with you first.

Mother Nature Strikes

They say hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.Well Mother Nature must have been in one heck of a rage for last night a round of vicious storms hit our area. The thunder was so loud it woke me up and the lighting was so close it made me jump up. It scared the crapola out of me. I tell you it can sure make ones heart beat a little faster when you awoken from a sound sleep in such a furoious manner.
Do you think she could have a little kinder to me? But Alas it was not to be for not only did she awaken me but lighting also hit my phone lines which was connected to my computer and now the modem is out. I am on an old pc that has no sound and I am not able to upload any pics because my camera is not compatible with it. And can you say slow, snails pace that it. It takes it’s good ole time uploading some of the web pages. Guess that could be why it was no longer in use. Let me tell you I miss my other pc and it’s only been one day. It may not have been the best computer but it worked for what I needed.Wayne is going to take mine to work with him tomorrow and see if one of his friend can get it working again. He says this guys used to be a computer techie.

Here’s keeping my fingers crossed because I really don’t like this pc.I have nothing downloaded on this one and I don’t remember all my sites that I had in my faves file. But I guess I need to be thankful that I had a backup. Still I do hope the other one can be fixed.I really can’t afford a new right now.
I had planned to show you a finished Thuja sock that I am working on for my mother as a christmas pressie. But that’s out now. I was actually excited to share it because this will be the first time I actually have a christmas present done this early. I am going to start a pair of Hedera socks next.
Ya know I was just thinking how funny it is that just a few short months ago I was afraid to try sock knitting and now that I’ve finished my first and second pair I have my third pairon the needles and the fourth pair ready to go on the needles. It is so addicting and now I have no ideas why I waited so long to try sock knitting.
Well I am off to work on more socks. Happy Knitting.

Yeah, It’s done!

Well today we went to the bank and signed the papers for the refinance. WOO am I glad that is finally over. However we still have to wait three business days before they will release the checks to use. It’s called recognisance days incase we change our minds. But that is not going to happen. No way, no how not when it helps get us out of debt! I feel so much better knowing things are going to get back on track now.

To celebrate I did a little shopping today. Really should not have but I just couldn’t help myself. My friend Donnely came over today and wanted to know if I wanted to go to Michaels of course I was not going to says no. I mean that’s just plain crazy if I didn’t go. After our trip there we stopped for a bite to eat at Yoder’s County Kitchen for some good amish cooking. And then we were off to our next stop which was Hobby Lobby.  Between the two store I only spent about $25 so I think I did a pretty good of curving my spending when I easliy could have spent so much more. I was on a cotton kick today because all the yarn I bought was cotton. Here is what I got.

Cotton Stash

Patons Grace in lavander 100% mercerized cotton, DMC Senso Demin 60% cotton 40% acrilico, Lily Sugar N Cream self striping in Natural Strips 100% cotton , Boye dpns in size 6 and a few other $1 items to but in swap packages.(not pictured)

Mr. Fisherman doesn’t know I splurged and bought yarn and I’m not going to be the one to tell him. It’s already with the rest of my stash and he has no idea what yarns I’ve had and what one’s are new.As long as he stays in the dark about it we get along just fine. LOL.

I think with the Sugar N Cream I’m going to knit Mandy’s Candy bag which is why I had to buy the size 6 dpns. I only had 5 or 8 and the 5’s are being used for a pair of socks and the 8’s were just too big. I tried the bag and didn’t like the size. I’ve already cast on the 6’s and it’s working wonderfully. Guess that might be why she suggested sixes. LOL. I wasn’t going to knit the bag at first but I just couldn’t help myself. Grace has already made up a few and so I just had to see what all the fuss was about. Grace se what ya made me do. HEE HEE. I’ll be sure to show you the finished product. Maybe I’ll even get it done in time to be entered into Mandy’s contest.

* Note – don’t type a blog post when husband is around and tends to read over your shoulder. So Mr. Fisherman knows I bought yarn. He just laughed at me and well there isn’t really much he can do about it now anyway cause I am not taking it back. HA! and he loves me too much to do that to the wonderful woman in his life.

Happy Birthday Mr. Teenager

Baby B

Today my not so little boy turns 15.

Big B

He would die if he knew I was sharing these pictures with everyone.

They grow so fast. He weighed only 5lbs 4oz and 21 inches long at birth and was 5 weeks early. But now he weighs 150lbs and is 6′ tall. It seems only yesterday that he was getting ready for his first day of school. And now he is a sophomore in high school. And soon he’ll be ready to drive. DON’T wanna THINK about that at all.

Before you know it he’ll be out in the world and on his own. Oh it makes me wanna sit down and bawl my eyes out. This must have been how my mother felt when I was growing up. Boy I sure can sympathise with her now.

Glad that’s over.

But there is still more to go.Well today the appraiser came to look over the house for the refinance process. I worked my butt off for hours to get things looking decent. It took him all of 20 minutes to look things over and then say we’ll get the paper work done and you should here from the bank sometime next week. Say what!? That just means more waiting. Let me tell I am getting tired of playing the waiting game. It’s been 2 weeks now since we started this whole process and I am so ready for it to be over. But I know it takes time to get these things done so I must be patient even if I don’t wanna be.The wheels of progress sure can move slowly sometimes.

What a relief.

Well we heard from the bank on Wednesday and they are going to let us refinance. Let me tell it was a huge relief. It felt like a big weight was lifted. I wanted to cry when I was talking to the guy at the bank but I kept my calm and finshed the conversation. I feel so much better than I have in the last week. Sure finances will still be tight for a while but now we can see a light at the end of the tunnel.

Also I went to my friend Kathie’s House Wednesday and as a celeration she took me to the Dairy Queen. It was nothing fancy but hey what did I care as long as she was buying I was happy. She also bought me this cute little pixiePixie. I think it is adorable. It was made by a high school student. She has had no training and took no classes on how to do this. I am very impressed. It is made from polymer clay. I am seriously considering buying more.

Also while I was there she let me go thru her fabric and here is what I came home with.  I am working on a new handbag design and I think these fabrics will look good for what I have in mind.

Fabric

Thought I’d share another pet picture with you. This is my dog Grunt. Fat little pooch isn’t he. He’s part beagle and part basset. He already had the name when we got him so we didn;t change it. But believe me it fits him because he does alot of grunting.Grunt

I’ve been doing some thinking, Ya know I’m ok with the fact that not everyone leaves a comment. I’ve done some blog reading and haven’t left any comments so I am guilty of it myself. But I know poeple are reading because I would not have 1, 776 or so hits and my comments have reached over 100 so hey I’m just going to stop worrying cause I still know others are reading. So read on folks but don’t forget to say Hi once in awhile.
