Now that rush of Christmas is over I hope to get back to my regularly scheduled blogging.
Today we took our annual after Christmas trip.
This year we went to Washington PA. While we are not a family who is into hunting we usually manage to end up at an outdoor gear store. This year was no different.
We went to Gander Mountain.
Wayne has this fascination with camouflage. Which is not really surprising since most guys are into camo anyway. It had some really nice things there that even I wouldn’t mind having. They even had a few once upon a time live-stuffed animals there.
It’s nothing like what they have at Cabella’s, which we also had to stop at on our return trip home. Located in Wheeling, WV. (pics coming soon) It was our third trip there and well worth it. They have a huge taxidermy mountain located in the middle of the store and a whole room dedicated to white tail deer. Also there is an area with animals from Africa. They even have a target shooting range for the kids to play in. Of course you know my 3 boys had to give it a try. And they have an aquarium in the fishing section of the store that almost rivals the ones at the zoo.
It was a good day and the rain managed to stay away until we were on our way home.
In other news I have been asked to knit 12 pair of my fingerless mittens. A friend of mind showed hers to her daughter and now the daughter wants me to make them for her co-workers. Whew_ thats a good many fingerless mittens. She is going to pay me for them so I said yes I would be willing to do it. And there is no rush so I can take my time on them. Thank goodness cause I don’t want to burn myself out on knitting.
Sounds like your family had a great Christmas trip.
my niece went to Cabellas recently with her boyfriend and his family, he needed a winter coat!!!
Happy for you about the order, that is so great!!!
OMG, I’m ROFL, you made it sound like the kids were playing around in the shooting range, you know, like they were the targets…
Anyway, sorry if I snorted.
Sounds like you had a fun time and I’m glad you had a safe trip. I love shopping at Gander Mountain. Every spring and fall I go through their clearance clothing racks and stock up for the next year. They sell my favorite brand of clothing, comfortable and sporty!
Glad to see you posting again. I’ve missed you.
Have a happy and safe new year.
